新樂園走了十多年，經過多次搬遷到了中山北路的小巷子中，
人文地理學家段義孚（Yi-Fu Tuan） 在談到空間與地方的關係曾這麼敘述：

「擁擠的樂園」一展自2010年9月18日開幕，至10月17日
Crowded Paradise
Shin Len Yuan Art Space has moved to different places in more than ten years, and just moved into an alley in Zhongshan North Road several months ago. Our members spent some money to renovate the old floor and other spaces, so now Shin Len Yuan Art Space looks much “newer”. However, those historical objects, movements and thoughts existing in this place do not change at all due to a small restoration, but create some mysterious atmosphere in the air instead.
A geography scientist, Yi-Fu Tuan, described the relationship between space and place as follows:
With more understanding of space and definition of its value, an unclear space in the beginning becomes a place… To define “Space” and “Place”, it requires the concept of both two. We can learn of the openness, freedom and threat of a space from the safety and stability of a place and vice versa.
Before our members moved into the space or at the very beginning of settlement in this alley of Zhongshan North Road, Shin Len Yuan Art Space was vague about the idea between “Space”” and “Place”. Although we confronted with various external challenges, the space was more like a blank paper that our members could have sufficient openness and freedom for brainstorming. With long-running business, nevertheless, Shin Len Yuan Art Space gradually transformed into a “Place” with various ideologies rather than a pure “Space” that it gained stability and balance, yet its internal organization, meanwhile, seemed to be limited in a fixed type without flexibility as before.
It can be concluded into several segments as primary issues of the exhibition – “Crowded Paradise”, such as the taste of arts, administrative system and different cognitive gaps generated by custom. Based on above-mentioned points, we especially emphasize on status of artists invited, including members and non-members, existing/new members, core/non-core members and previous/present administrative and major decision-making members to obtain various potential opinions from different perspectives for a substantive discussion. The artists invited are listed as follows: Wang Chien-Hao、Hu Tsai-ming、Hsi Shih-Pin、Chen Yi-fan、Chen Wen-hsiang、Chuang Kai -Yu、Kuo Hui-Chan、Huang Li-Ting、Tszen Yun-Jung、Tsai Chueh-Lin
“Crowded Paradise” will start from 18th September to 17th October, 2010. The opening will be held at 5 PM on 18th September. Additionally, there will be a seminar held at 2 PM on 2nd October hosted by an invited youth art critic, Wang Sheng-Hung, the curator and the artists. We sincerely welcome you to join the event.
